Our Strategy: Securing the American West’s Water Future

Water for the West is a charitable 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization dedicated to solving the critical water problems in the American West. We believe that while conservation is vital, it is no longer sufficient on its own, and bold water augmentation strategies are essential to ensure an ample, resilient, and affordable water supply for generations to come

Our Approach: Innovation and Collaboration

We leverage a highly accomplished internal and external team to lead the solution of tough challenges through innovation and out-of-the-box thinking. Our approach involves:

  • Establishing the Problem: Acknowledging the critical water crisis in the American West areas such as the Colorado River Basin and beyond, where demand outpaces supply due to population growth, industry expansion, and severe droughts.
  • Introducing the Solution: Advocating for and implementing resilient, affordable, and scalable water augmentation solutions, moving beyond conservation alone.
  • Share the Benefit/Value: Ensuring a resilient water supply requires extraordinary visionand collaborative effort to manage socially and technically complex demands on a limited resource.
  • What Makes Us Different: We focus on novel solutions like large-scale low friction hyper aquifers and AI-driven Integrated Water Resource Management, working with diverse partners like Tribal nations, government agencies, and industry leaders.
  • Call to Action: Engaging stakeholders—from donors and partners to researchers and community members—to join us in this critical effort.

Long-Term Vision (Five & Ten-Year Goals)

Our long-term goals are ambitious, aiming for significant, lasting change.

  • Five-Year Goals: Initiate Phase 2 of the Western Supply and Augmentation Study, begin desalination deployment with AI integration, and start prototyping Large Scale Low Friction Hyper Aquifers©.
  • Ten-Year Goals: Lead or be majorly involved in one big water importation project (e.g., Bantam Peripheric Power Desalination), change leadership opinion that augmentation is necessary and affordable, and build a lasting, financially stable organization.
  • We are committed to transparency and regular updates as we achieve these milestones, ensuring our stakeholders see the impact of their involvement.
